ABSTRACT

This chapter aims to assess both methods of assessment, their strengths and weaknesses, and application to Recurrent Pregnancy Loss. Aspirin is often used to prevent pregnancy loss. Indeed, aspirin has numerous effects which may prevent pregnancy loss. The pregnancy-induced blocking factor was long thought to be a possible biomarker. Progestogens are probably the most widely used agents that attempt to prevent pregnancy loss. Most trials have tried one form of treatment on a heterogeneous population with either two or more or three or more pregnancy losses, with no restriction for different diagnostic criteria whatsoever. Evidence-based medicine assesses a clinical problem where there is no clear diagnosis, then audits the results in order to make decisions about treatment. Personalized medicine seeks an accurate diagnosis of cause, and then offers targeted therapy. In oncology, the term precision medicine has replaced the term personalized medicine.
