ABSTRACT

Apart from any contract-related acceptance testing there has been the possibility to monitor the construction process of a full highway rehabilitation with Non-Destructive-Testing (NDT). The objective of this project was, amongst others, to evaluate possibilities and limitations of Falling-Weight-Deflectometer (FWD) and Ground-Penetration-Radar (GPR) measurements for the use in a Building and Maintenance project (B&M) at which the contractor has to take the full responsibility and risks involved through the lifetime for rehabilitation and maintenance. Structural related indicators as well as an as built documentation can be valuable information for this. From the researchers point of view this project has given first indications on how to use non-destructive-testing for quality control purpose as well as source for analytical pavement design data.
