ABSTRACT
Environmental issues become more and more pressing as the human population and its demands and needs drastically increase. In this paper, the issues raised by energy and geo-resource (both production and waste) management will be discussed with insights in rock mechanics and rock engineering. This paper will demonstrate that in most cases, a comprehensive multi-physics approach is needed to provide acceptable solutions to the assessment of encountered risks.
