ABSTRACT

This chapter presents the users of concern are the teachers and school administrators who make purchase decisions and supervise the use of the scissors. Although young children handle the scissors, warning and hazard information is not intended for them. The Children's Tough School Scissors that were involved in the incident are depicted. The preschool purchased the scissors from School Supply starting in 2003, about two years before the incident occurred. Scissors are sharp. Care should be taken when cutting or handling scissors. Scissors are a tool, not a toy. Adult supervision is always recommended. The subject scissors were imported by School Supply from Jade, a manufacturer in China. As the importer, School Supply is considered the manufacturer in US courts. The US Consumer Product Safety Commission is a federal regulatory agency, created to protect the public against unreasonable risks of injuries and deaths associated with consumer products.
