ABSTRACT

This article discusses the application of the SSAT paradigm as an effective ontological approach in the study of organizational activity issues. It is established that SSAT provides avenues for developing deeper insight and understanding of the structural dynamics of an organizational activity, which can lead to the design of work systems for efficient and effective human performance in organizations. The complexity of organizational activity systems underlined by issues, such as the system's expansive visibilization, historicity, synergism, contradictions, discourse, mediation, among others, and their systemic influences are covered. A template for understanding and managing the systemic complexity of organizational activities, especially the functional interrelatedness of the system's distribution, exchange, distribution, and consumption components in a situated work context within which collective activities are carried, is discussed. Steps for enhancing positive synergic influence and collective learning in the organizational activity system of work groups are also outlined.
