ABSTRACT

This chapter deals with the implementation of wireless home control system with the help of Global System for Mobile Communication (GSM). It illustrates how the concept can be extended to applications such as guard alert systems, flood alert systems, intrusion detection and notification alerts, and security systems, thus preventing any unauthorized access to the devices. The chapter investigates the various methods by which different appliances in a home environment can be effectively controlled and accessed over the network. It proposes the use of GSM module as the wireless communicating device. The chapter shows the implementation of secured login using the mobile phone. It uses encryption techniques and helps to increase the overall security of the system. The chapter also proposes two major subsystems that are a part of the home automation control system: application control subsystem and security control subsystem. It deals with two different parts: hardware implementation and Android application.
