ABSTRACT

Currently, market competition is intensifying and customer demand is diverse. The traditional ‘product and after-sales service’ mode can no longer adapt to latest market demands. In order to increase profits and enhance competitiveness, companies are linking products and services to customers as a single entity, the Product–Service System (PSS). In this paper, a conceptual framework for the design of a processing-equipment PSS (pe-PSS) is proposed. The main functions of the framework and design process are illustrated. Finally, some key enabling technologies are described in detail, that is, identification and analysis of customer demand, feature matching between customer demand and service technology, division of product and service modules, configuration design and optimization of the pe-PSS.
