ABSTRACT

Conventional power factor correction topologies like boost PFC, which have a rectifier on the input side, may cause conduction loss and low converting efficiency. Much more bridgeless PFC topologies have been developed and researched to improve efficiency and minimize conduction loss of overall systems. Input voltage inspection, current detection and common mode noise are significant issues in bridgeless PFC topologies. In this paper, an improved OCC bridgeless PFC control strategy, based on a peak current sampling approach, is proposed. In addition, simulations have been carried out through implementation of MATLAB and Simulink to verify a proposed control system. A bridgeless PFC with a low EMI circuit is demonstrated by applying IR1155S as a proof of the design.
