ABSTRACT

Fever is one of the most common human medical symptoms. Fever can also occur as a result of various illness, from the common cold to more serious problem such as dengue and malaria, and thus, fever medicine is very dependent on the primary cause or illness. Since it is very common for a human to become feverous, people of Borneo have used numerous plant species to traditionally relieve fever. This chapter focuses on some of them. Centella asiatica is a member of Apiaceae family. The indigenous Dayak Kanayatn and Dayak Ahe in West Kalimantan Province used Centella asiatica to cure fever. Kaempferia galanga or Galangal is a member of Zingiberaceae family and is widely used for culinary purposes. Dayak Kenayatn in West Kalimantan Province used Galangal rhizome to cure fever. Hibiscus rosa-sinensis belongs to the Malvaceae family. Several Dayak communities in West Kalimantan Province use Hibiscus rosa-sinensis leaf to cure fever.
