ABSTRACT
In this chapter, we will review physics and signal generation process of a semiconductor photon counting detector. We will cover basic x-ray interactions, electron-hole pair generation, charge transportation, and signal induction. Through this journey, we wish to help the readers build up picture of semiconductor detector physics and help them understand which factors are critical to the detector energy response.
