ABSTRACT

This chapter briefly summarizes a few, certainly not all, of current controversies in nuclear medicine dosimetry, and the field of radiation protection in general. None of the subsections provide an exhaustive review of all current literature, but brief overviews are give in four areas: the need for dose calculations in therapy with radiopharmaceuticals, the linear, no-threshold (LNT) model of radiation carcinogenesis, calculations for the release of radiopharmaceutical therapy patients, different phantom series for use in dosimetry calculations.
