ABSTRACT
This chapter provides a historical overview of the use of many anthropomorphic phantoms used for internal and external dosimetry, beginning with the simplistic ICRU sphere model and progressing to current, realistic, image based phantoms of many types developed by a number of authors. Some representative results from a few phantoms are provided. References to more complete works can lead readers to further results and applications.
