ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on modeling dynamics of a system that does not remain within a fixed subspace, but rather one that constantly explores new dimensions in a very large space of possible dimensions. Modeling the large-scale dynamics of developed countries has similar problems, though, because new industries come, old ones go and others merge. Modeling economic systems is difficult at best, and all the more so when the size of the system being modeled is large. Conventionally, dynamical systems modeling begins with the identification of the relevant dynamical variables, which form the state space of the system. The idea behind the present model is to create the simplest possible dynamics for the node strengths that allows the network to display the dynamics of expansion. The primary enhancement that could be made in this model is the inclusion of more realistic dynamics between the nodes.
