Session introduction

Good afternoon and welcome to the session on Computation and Complexity. My name is Bruce Boghosian and I’m from the Center for Computational Science at Boston University. I wanted to say a few words about the relationship between computation and complex systems research at the outset of the session in the way of introducing the two speakers. There’s been a close co-dependence between computation and complex systems research. They’ve existed symbiotically for many decades now. There are some interesting reasons for that, and I wanted to bring up four of them in preparation for the session.
