ABSTRACT

Tourism in Slovakia represents the potential that in the future can positively influence the economy of Slovakia by bringing tourists and new services to the regions and creating new job opportunities. Several steps must be taken to achieve these goals, one of which is to analyze the potential of tourism objects. Geographic Information Systems (GIS) are often used in the process of identifying and analyzing objects of tourism. This paper presents some possibilities of using GIS in identifying and analyzing the potential of the Slovak Paradise (Slovakia) site for tourism. The results of the analyses are then usable, e.g. for marketing or strategic decision making in investing in the construction of new tourism objects.
