ABSTRACT
A void in alternative thinking with respect to the planetary crisis emanating from environmental degradation and natural resource exploitation has been gradually closing, via the Rights of Nature discourse, though on a limited scale worldwide. Nevertheless, discussion exploring Rights of Nature is emerging globally on academic frontiers, and a few countries are giving the philosophical underpinnings constitutional and legal effect. The recognition of this new idea, that Nature has its own intrinsic value, above and beyond merely serving humans, is gaining momentum, though gradually.
