ABSTRACT

Most rapid sequence inductions by anaesthetic trainees will be performed in the theatre complex. However, there may be occasions when you have to perform a rapid sequence induction at a site distant from theatres. A remote site is defined as a location outside the theatre complex where assistance from another anaesthetist is not immediately available. These places may include:

the emergency department

the coronary care unit

the radiology department

medical or surgical wards

intensive care.
