ABSTRACT
Step-growth electrophilic oligomerization and polymerization reactions are investigated much less than chain-growth electrophilic polymeriza tions. Nevertheless, they can be used for the generation of many polymers and oligomers that can not be obtained by alternative synthetic methods. This chapter discusses these polymerization reactions and is organized according to the nature and reactivity of the electrophilic propagating species. The presentation o f each type of propagating species and the resulting polymer is intended to illustrate the most important recent devel opments rather than be comprehensive.
