ABSTRACT

The simplicity, cost, and time effectiveness of microscopy make it an apt tool to carry out many forensic wildlife investigations. It can be applied to the examination and comparison of a wide variety of articles like hairs, feathers, claws, and beaks. These sample types are examined routinely in wildlife offenses. Examination of exhibits under the microscope will always provide some valuable information and investigative leads in a nondestructive manner. Hence, for a range of samples microscopic examination is the first step, and can be the only technique required for some species.
