ABSTRACT

Summary

Mechatronic systems are integrated multidomain systems. They involve sensors, actuators, system modeling, locomotion, as well as parameter and state estimation. In this chapter, a mechatronic system is introduced. A fully autonomous mobile robot is built by using the behavior-based artificial intelligence (AI) approach. Several levels of competences and behaviors are implemented in this system. The improvement in system ability is accomplished by adding new modules to the system. Fuzzy control laws for steering control of the autonomous nonholonomic mobile robot are designed.
