ABSTRACT

The design process can be considered as an iterative spiral. Redesign is an essential element of the iterative spiral of a user-centered design cycle (Gould 1988). Usability evaluation has been emphasized for “passive” aspects in the design process, such as identification of usability problems and inspection of design flaws in the specific user interface. However, “creative” aspects, such as development of redesign ideas for enhancing artifacts, are extremely important in corporate product development context (Karat and Bennett 1991; Kinoe et al. 1993).
