ABSTRACT
It is essential that designers of motor-vehicle cockpits see the driver as part of the driver-vehicle-environment system. This entry starts by systematizing the factors influencing the driver-vehicle-environment system and then goes on to examine features, such as design of signals, controls, and driver assistance systems.
