ABSTRACT

The content and meaning of individuality at work is a challenge to any business and government enterprises. Individuality is a central element in building organizational excellence and teamwork (Paajanen et al. 2004). It is important for organizations to know the individuals’ perception of their own professional competencies, as well as their personal will to develop those competencies. Organizations aim to guide and support employees’ personal growth, development, and personal vision, in order to improve their core competencies according to the competitive pressures of the business world. This strategy should benefit both individuals and organizations. Based on the employees’ self-evaluation, the gap between the personal vision and current reality at work forms an individual’s creative tension. The creative tension is the energy that can move an individual from the place of current reality towards the reality of his own vision (Senge 1994).
