ABSTRACT

Before coming as a professor to Virginia Tech in 1981, Dr Kroemer was a research engineer in the Departments of Physiology and Biomechanics, Max-Planck Institute for Work Physiology, Dortmund, Germany, from 1960 to 1966. Then he served 7 years as a research industrial engineer in the Human Engineering Division of the Aerospace Medical Research Laboratory, Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio. In 1973, he was appointed director and professor, Ergonomics and Occupational Medicine Divisions, Federal Institute of Occupational Safety and Accident Research, Dortmund, Germany. In 1976, he became professor of ergonomics and industrial engineering, and director of the Ergonomics Research Laboratory, in the Department of Industrial Engineering and Operations Research, Wayne State University, Detroit, Michigan. In 1981, he started to serve as a professor in Virginia Tech’s Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering and director of the Industrial Ergonomics Laboratory; emeritus in 1998.
