ABSTRACT

Seabass is widely represented within a large geographic area including the whole Mediterranean, East Atlantic up to Irish waters, and the Channel. Its reproductive season lasts approximately two months starting differentially in the area due to climatic gradient. The reproduction season generally starts in January in the Mediterranean, mid-February in the western Channel and in April in Irish waters. The spermiation period largely covers spawning time but sperm quality decreases as the season progresses [1].
