In this chapter, the fundamental mechanisms linking CBF, cerebrovascular responses to changes in PCO2 , and chemoreceptor control of breathing, including key methodological considerations, are covered in the context of health, high altitude, and congestive heart failure. Future research areas are highlighted throughout.
