ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses the test support documentation used to support the plan and provides some examples of the kinds of documentation available to the tester. It describes the structure and contents of a human factors test plan and examines methods for preparing test reports. Test support documentation provides essential information needed to support the planning, conducting, and reporting of human factors test and evaluation (HFTE). It may include standards, criteria, or guidance used in assessing the implications of human factors evaluations and the processes or procedures for ensuring that HFTE programs will produce reliable and valid data. In many cases, military human engineering and HFTE standards and guidelines served as seminal documents for development of the commercial counterparts that have become prominent in the world of commerce and information technology. Human factors performance standards usually are concerned with how well an individual or team performs as evaluated against system-specific performance specifications.
