ABSTRACT

Solid organ transplant recipients are at risk of experiencing side effects from their immunosuppressive regimens. This chapter focuses on the direct dermatologic adverse reactions associated with immunosuppressive medications following solid organ transplant. Specifically, we review the most widely used immunosuppressive agents, their mechanisms of action, and their adverse sequelae in the skin, mucous membranes, hair, and nails, highlighting the presentation, incidence, pathogenesis, and treatments of these. Typical time to onset for each condition is also discussed.
