ABSTRACT

A dietary supplement is a product taken by mouth and intended to supplement the diet. These products may include vitamins, minerals, herbs or other botanicals, amino acids, and substances such as enzymes, organ tissues, glandular, and metabolites. Patented prescribed drugs have changed over the counter herbs or “roots,” which have been both discovered too weak or risky. Medicinal plants especially herbs like drugs have several actions within the body. Sometimes, even if you take a herb or supplement for a certain reason, there can be other unintended reactions. Being natural does not necessarily mean being safe. Herbal and dietary products have chemical properties just as manufactured drugs have. Like anything that we ingest (eat) or apply, there can be side effects. Today, one in all the foremost issues with several herbal products in the market is that the numbers and therefore the purity of active ingredients are different from company to company. The legislature regulates herbal drugs just like food and nutritional supplements, but they do not follow the same standard as they do in prescription drugs.
