ABSTRACT

For the 5G cellular communication systems, massive MIMO is a promising technology for providing superior data rates and lower latency in addition to low power requirements. Beamforming antenna array plays an important role in 5G implementations, as it improves the spectral efficiency. Moreover the adoption of reasonably substantial antenna arrays perks up the energy and spectral efficiency to humongous dimensions in contrast to systems with single antennas. In the proposed work, spectral efficiency has been improved by integrating cognitive radio (CR) sensing algorithm with beamforming to sense the free slots in the channel. Secondary users (SUs) occupy the slot when found free. Thus beamforming and CR algorithm improves the channel capacity of the network. Moreover an attempt has been made to develop new techniques to improve the quality of excellence (QOE) in 5G networks using beamforming and cognitive concepts. The results have been presented in the form of various plots and graphs.
