ABSTRACT

Wireless communications hold a very significant place in telecommunications due to its simple and less-costly deployment. Though advantageous, it suffers from constraints like data rate, range, low throughput, and inefficient bandwidth utilization. Various attempts have been made to overcome these issues by using multiple input multiple output (MIMO) systems. MIMO is preferred for its increased reliability, diversity, and low bit error rate (BER) characteristics. In this chapter, various methods have been discussed in transmitting an image file using MIMO-OFDM systems incorporated with antierror ability to degrade BER. Furthermore, various diversity combining techniques like maximal ratio combining (MRC) and selection combining (SC) are also incorporated along with a transmitting diversity scheme, i.e., beamforming. Different modulation techniques viz. QPSK, 16-PSK, and 64-PSK are used with a variable number of transmitters and receivers to examine the performance in terms of BER versus SNR. Last, results showed that in the transmission course, the image quality is much better with the use of QPSK in comparison to other modulation schemes.
