ABSTRACT

Social media is a platform where people talk and voice their opinion about various problems. To have a perspective as to how many people express their views and observations about diseases on social media, we have various techniques to analyze health care through social media. In this chapter, we use R to perform the analytics on the social media data in order to draw meaningful inferences. The corpus data is collected from popular social media platform Twitter using its API. Locale specific data analytics makes use of geocode of countries like India, Singapore, Indonesia, the UK, and the USA. Tweets of disease-by-disease classes like Diabetes, Stroke, and cancer are analyzed. The resultant analytics are expressed using projections like word count frequency of occurring illustrated as a bar graph.
