ABSTRACT

The identification of an intrauterine pregnancy via ultrasound is an important step in establishing the normal steps of prenatal care. However, in 1% to 2% of all pregnancies, a pregnancy outside of the uterus occurs, with the fallopian tube being the most common location. Cervical ectopic pregnancy is a rare condition, with an incidence of <0.1% of all ectopic pregnancies. It is associated with a high morbidity and mortality. Timely intervention is required to preserve fertility and avoid the need for a hysterectomy. This chapter serves as a guide to outline the steps needed to make an early diagnosis and treatment plan in order to save the lives of these women.
