ABSTRACT

In this chapter, blockchain technologies and their possible use in enhancingInternet of Things(IoT) security will be evaluated. Blockchain technologies complemented with recent advances in IoT communication protocols present a new way to create a standardized, decentralized infrastructure that may be used to invent new types of security and data storage solutions free from DDoS attacks. Blockchain technologies utilize public-key cryptography, consensus protocols, various cryptographic privacy methods, distributed filesystems, and distributed application platforms. In the core of all these technologies lies the need for trustless, fault-tolerant exchange, and storage of information. With the ever-increasing number of IoT devices, it is evident that the premise of blockchain technologies may be useful on many levels.
