Digital development has been destroying the workforce in the retail sector. This research aimed to analyze the causes and effects of labor disruption in the retail sector. This research employed a qualitative method by observing and interviewing employees of retail smart stores. The fishbone analysis technique was conducted so as to describe the digital era’s causes and effects on the workforce. The results showed labor disruption in the fields of administration, security, and payment. The labor disruption included a number of disappearing professions, termination of employment, and a necessity for digital skills. Employees need to reskill, upskill, and improve their information technology (IT) skills.
