ABSTRACT

The demands of the industrial revolution, according to Klaus Schwab, have entered stage 4.0 since 2010. The current development of knowledge in Indonesia cannot be separated from the role of existing scientists. The scientists who have the most important roles in helping to develop the industrial revolution 4.0 in Indonesia are Indonesian diaspora scientists. Indonesian diaspora scientists gather annually and produce outcomes and outputs for knowledge development in Indonesia. This research used a qualitative research method and a case study of Indonesian diaspora scientists’ meetings for the past four years. The purpose of this research was to analyze the role of Indonesian diaspora scientists in domestic technology development. The results found that Indonesian diaspora scientists play three strategic roles in knowledge development in Indonesia: the field of knowledge development, the area targeted for development, and the output of cooperation.
