ABSTRACT
For more than half a century, the great Russian scientist Dmitri Ivanovich Mendeleev enriched various sciences with his studies and innovative ideas, raising the prestige of the Russian scholarly traditions. Over the years of his scientific work, he had published more than 500 treatises, about a one third of them is devoted to various issues of engineering and economics. Cooperation with the scientists of the Mining Institute had a strong influence on Mendeleev’s research activities, due to which he made a great contribution to the mining, geological and economic sciences.
