ABSTRACT

Different defects may appear during operation of steel vertical tanks. Defects reduce the reliability of the tank and lead to accidents of varying severity. Oil tanks are structures of increased danger, their failures and accidents lead to serious economic, environmental and social consequences. The problem of ensuring operational reliability and durability of tank structures is relevant; its solution will lead to accident-free operation of tanks. The work is devoted to solving the problem of the safety operation of steel vertical tanks by the example of the analysis of residual life of oil tank RVSP-5000 with a crack and dent defects with allowance for their size, location in the tank structure and operating loads using the finite element modeling.
