ABSTRACT

The banana inflorescence plays an important role in the treatment of fibroids. It is being traditionally used to treat painful menstruation. Some reports from tribal areas in India state that the banana florets extract can be used to cure heavy menstrual bleeding and fibroids. Docking studies will be performed to understand the mechanism of polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS). PCOS is a heterogeneous endocrine disorder that affects 1 in 15 women worldwide. Since PCOS is a curable disorder, it can be treated either by the use of medication or by natural remedies. The natural remedies include banana inflorescence, shatavari, and shankapushpi, which are known to be effective and safe. In this study, an effort has been made to examine the use of one such natural remedy for the treatment of PCOS. However, there are no scientific reports on PCOS to date. Understanding the science behind the association of herbal plants on PCOS will be very useful, as it can also be used for disorders, such as uterine fibroids, endometriosis, and other related conditions. To understand the role of banana inflorescence (Yuvati) on PCOS, the identified bioactive compounds are studied in silico, in comparison with commercial drugs to validate the efficacy.
