ABSTRACT

Nowadays the rates of the extraction of the mineral resources have an upward tendency. Hence, fast increase of the accumulation of the solid mining wastes, in this paper regarded as man-made soils, is an issue of growing importance. As it known, the mechanical properties of the man-made soils significantly differ from the natural soils and in many cases are difficult to study. In this paper the main geotechnical features of the man-made soils affected strength and stiffness and therefore the stability of rock slopes have been presented. Also, current issues related to studying of the mechanical properties of man-made soils, their storage and usage as recycled material have been described.
