ABSTRACT

The digitization of healthcare will go some distance to standardize the information flow to patients, democratizing and making available personal information that was previously only available to health practitioners. Digital Therapeutics are high-quality, clinically validated software applications to prevent, manage, or treat a medical condition. At the same time, though, the goal of digital therapeutics is to prevent, manage or treat a medical condition, and we need to set a high bar for the quality and clinical validation of such applications. The deployment of digital therapeutics continues to gain momentum annually, augmenting traditional therapies and as stand-alone treatments. The data and digital platforms utilized will likely evolve as technology develops, and coupled with genetic and other conventional biomarker analyses may help define the utility of digital biomarkers and digital therapeutics through gold standard approaches.
