ABSTRACT

Connected and Autonomous Vehicles (CAVs) continue to increase in relevance in the modern age, with investment furthering development in both military and civilian application across air, ground and sea-surface environments. The technology has the potential to boost economic productivity, reduce urban congestion and empower an aging population. However, increased connectivity often results in increased risk of cyber attacks. This chapter aims to analyze the technology implemented in the advancing industry of fully automated, self-driving vehicles, their connection to the ever-expanding Internet of Things (IoT), and the growing concern for cyber security risks presented by this technology, along with future advancements to reduce these risks.
