ABSTRACT

Virtual reality technology is a three-dimensional (3D) computer-generated display that allows or compels the users to get the feeling of ‘being there’ or being present in an environment other than the one they actually are in and to interact with that environment. 3D virtual environments offer to behavior researchers the possibility of developing more complex and enriched interactive settings, increasing the number and the quality of contacts that an individual can establish with his environment. The denominated Fixed Environments are different from those environments in which elements and their relations can change from time to time. For Immersive Virtual Reality, the user can respond or interact only with the Virtual Environment and not at all with the real world. In any case, despite these disadvantages, the number of possibilities that virtual reality offers to behavioral analysts and to researchers with different approaches is highly attractive.
