ABSTRACT

Universities preserve a repository of critical knowledge that is essential to scientific and educational construction and the politics of change that the planet needs. Universities must occupy a highlighted place in this scenario as representatives of knowledge committed to social-environmental sustainability. Science fiction is the contemporary narrative genre by excellence. In general, it explores future worlds and despite its name, it worries less about science and more about its offspring technology. There is no doubt that western science has produced technology of great impact on human beings’ quality of life. Changing the cultural system to which the exploitation system is connected necessarily goes through the deconstruction of the founding narrative of a hegemonic regime of memory. Guaranteeing ways of life, values, language, education, and health is at the heart of the defense of the environment and, consequently, at the heart of human rights all over the world.
