ABSTRACT

The domain of electromagnetic ergonomics analyses technical and organisational problems related to the impact of the use of electromagnetic technologies on humans (both directly, when the free-standing body comes into contact with an electromagnetic field, and indirectly, through the electromagnetic impact on the material environment where humans are present). In this specific domain, it is important to capture the broad context: the parameters of the material environment and human activity there, as well as the characteristics of the impact on the safety and health of workers caused by exposure to an electromagnetic field. Particular considerations should be focused on the effectiveness of protective measures aimed at eliminating or mitigating negative impacts. This chapter provides concise considerations regarding the formalities that constitute the formal and technical frames when analysing work-related environmental electromagnetic issues in the context of protection against relevant safety and health hazards in the work environment.
