ABSTRACT

Blockchain technology was developed in 2008 as the next evolutionary technology. Blockchains, basically are sequences of blocks connected via cryptography which is resistant to change in the data. One of the important applications of blockchain is providing security to all the IOT devices which we have discussed in the chapter. All the devices that are connected via the internet may synthesize with each other so their security is the main concern here. So, the devices can be made secure by using RSA (Rivest–Shamir–Adleman) cryptosystems that ensure security via a private key in all the devices. Hence, we present the RSA-based security in our IOT (internet of things) devices. In our study, we review the blockchain technology and its applications in maintaining the security in fully scaled IOT systems using a simple key management system. One of the most quintessential components of blockchain technology is its ability to act as a trusted ledger of transactions so that it does not have to rely on other client–server architectures. The important modules of blockchain are (1) registration, (2) authentication, and (3) check listing IOT devices.
