Drawing the organicity chart: Structure analysis exercises for better design skills

In the cursus of students in Architecture, a structure analysis exercise is introduced into the teachings about structural design. The choices made about the assignment details are described: scope, analysis grid, practicalities, and analysis steps. To help with synthesizing, a graphic tool is introduced: the “organicity chart”. Based on the exercise results, the practicalities are critically reviewed, leading to recommendations for further implementation.
