ABSTRACT

The concept of sustainable development is primarily related to reducing the use of non-renewable natural resources. This unequivocally points to the fact that our spatial capacities, more precisely the building footprint, is the first non-renewable resource in the chain of the Earth's ecosystem. À response to the urgent needs of additional spatial capacities can be found in the rapid development of civil engineering since the limit of a building's height is pushed higher than ever before. Today, a new type of super-high, super-thin housing skyscraper is still being developed, allowing vertical layering on small areas. Therefore, housing in the clouds encourages a rethinking of the boundaries of everyday housing.
