ABSTRACT

Nanotechnology-enabled medicine or nanomedicine is one of the most popular applications of nanotechnology. In 2013, Over 240 nanomedicine products were identified either in use or in trials. Public Communication of Science and Technology continues to investigate the linkage between claims about nanomedicine and the broader implications associated with those claims: personalized and individualized medicine. The public is highly vulnerable to false claims especially when they do not have the capacities to separate fact from fiction and when the false claims are consistent with what they already believe is true. The post-truth world is a world of fiction: claims that seem plausible are not based in facts. The shooter referenced above is a twisted example of the consequences of post-truth fiction. The nursing community has discussed personalized care for some time. The ability to present oneself, to be with a patient in a way that acknowledges shared humanity, is the basis of much of nursing practice.
