ABSTRACT
Refractory hypertension is a common cause of referral to cardiology. Hypertensive crisis and its complications – encephalopathy, stroke, myocardial infarction, heart failure and kidney disease – are important causes of morbidity. Classification, approach to diagnosis and treatment are discussed.
